Travel Buggy Wheelchairs

If you’ve ever had to choose between bringing a power chair along or staying home, you know how much a travel-friendly option can mean.

Travel Buggy was born from exactly that problem. The Canadian company set out to design a foldable power chair light enough for coffee runs and family outings, after the founders couldn’t find one that fit in their car for their own Nanna.

At Conval-Aid, we’re committed to improving people’s lives by providing top-notch mobility brands that far exceed expectations.

Whether you’re looking to buy a wheelchair or rent a Travel Buggy, this line of wheelchairs handles everyday outings, family visits, appointments, and travel.

Travel Buggy Wheelchairs

Every Travel Buggy model has innovative design features in Canada around the same idea: independence that travels well.

Each one is built with travel in mind, with a foldable frame, airline-approved lithium-ion batteries, and a five-year frame warranty. Airline policies can vary, so it’s always best to confirm battery and storage requirements with your airline before you travel.

Here’s a closer look at the lineup.

DASH Power Wheelchair

At a net weight of just 46 lbs, the DASH is one of the most portable models in its class, and folds in seconds with its one-hand release lock, just like a lawn chair.

Two built-in suitcase-style wheels let you roll it along rather than lift it. The DASH max weight capacity is 265 lbs, travels up to 20 km (12.5 mi) on a charge, and rides on shock absorbers and magnesium alloy wheels for a smoother trip.

Quick-release batteries, barrier-free side entry, and an extra-large storage bag round it out. For someone who wants simplicity and easy transport, the DASH is a dependable everyday companion.

CITY 2 PLUS Power Wheelchair

The Travel Buggy CITY 2 PLUS is the heavy-duty member of the family, and Travel Buggy calls it the strongest foldable power chair on the market.

It supports up to 400 lbs while still folding down for travel, breaking into three compact pieces that fit easily into a car, a closet, or an aircraft hold. Removing the quick-release rear wheels drops the heaviest piece to around 38 lbs.

The latest CITY model adds a more powerful power system, an updated LCD, a high backrest that reclines up to 115 degrees, and an adjustable armrest width that expands the seat to 23 inches.

With a range of up to 25 km (15.5 mi) and an optional Bluetooth caregiver remote, it suits taller or larger users who don’t want to compromise on portability.

GRAND TOURER (GT) Power Wheelchair

The GRAND TOURER (or “GT”)  is the most modern-looking model in the Travel Buggy lineup, pairing a sleek design with practical performance.

It carries up to 350 lbs, travels up to 25 km (15.5 mi) on a charge, and weighs 49 lbs net. Its standout feature is a set of built-in loading wheels that make lifting and stowing the folded chair far easier, addressing one of the most common frustrations reported by power chair users.

Available in white or black, the GT has a sleek look while still prioritizing comfort, smooth ride quality, and ease of loading. It’s a good fit for anyone who wants a power chair that looks as good as it performs.

AEROLUX 2C Power Wheelchair

The AEROLUX 2C is the featherweight of the group, with a frame built from 100% carbon fibre.

At a net weight of just 33 lbs, it’s the easiest model to lift and handle, yet it still supports up to 300 lbs thanks to its strong carbon frame.

It travels up to 20 km (12.5 mi) on a single battery, and a dual-battery bay lets you add a second battery to extend your range on longer outings. This version builds on the original with enhanced comfort, a longer range, and an even smoother ride.

For travellers who place a premium on the lightest possible chair without sacrificing durability, the AEROLUX 2C is the standout choice.

HELIX Mobility Scooter

The HELIX is Travel Buggy’s mobility scooter, designed to move more like a power chair than a traditional scooter.

It carries up to 265 lbs, travels up to 20 km (12.5 mi) on a charge, weighs 55 lbs net, and folds fully flat in a single motion with no disassembly required.

Its industry-first 4-wheel pivot steering system, paired with the exclusive Wide Wheel Track design, delivers a tight 37-inch turning radius and the stability of a 4-wheel stance.

A 4-way adjustable tiller, height-adjustable backrest, contoured padded seating, and front and rear LED lights make it comfortable and safe in low light.

Plus, the built-in tow handle and vertically self-standing fold make loading and storing it simple.

My wife has back problems at her computer. Conval-Aid had all the different Obusforme types, so she was able to try each along with expert advice. She's very happy with the one we bought (not one that you find at drug stores).

Frequently Asked Questions

A travel power wheelchair is controlled with a joystick and is usually more compact and manoeuvrable in tight indoor spaces. A mobility scooter is steered with handlebars or a tiller and is well-suited to longer outdoor distances. The HELIX blurs that line a little, since its four-wheel pivot steering lets it move more like a power chair than a typical scooter.

Travel Buggy power chairs use lithium-ion battery technology, which is significantly lighter and more efficient than traditional acid batteries. Most batteries weigh about 3.5 lbs and are typically airline-approved for cabin travel.

Driving time varies with terrain and user weight, but a charge typically lasts about 6 to 8 hours of use. The larger batteries take roughly 5 to 7 hours to charge fully. The batteries also hold their charge well when not in use, and they are rated for 1,000 or more charge cycles, which can mean over many years of life depending on use.

It depends on the model. The DASH and HELIX each carry up to 265 lbs, the AEROLUX 2C up to 300 lbs, the GRAND TOURER up to 350 lbs, and the CITY 2 PLUS up to 400 lbs, which makes it the best fit for taller or heavier users.

It is straightforward, though it varies by model. The CITY 2 PLUS and DASH are front-folding, like a lawn chair: release the locking mechanism and compress the chair into its folded position. The AEROLUX 2C is cross-folding, which means it collapses side-to-side like an accordion when you pull up on the seat. The HELIX scooter folds fully flat in a single motion. Benefits of Travel Power Wheelchairs

A travel power wheelchair can make a real difference when you need mobility equipment that fits into your actual life.

For many people, the harder part isn’t getting around once they arrive somewhere. It’s everything around that: lifting the chair into the car, easing it through a doorway, boarding public transit, or moving through a busy airport.

Travel-friendly power wheelchairs are built to take down those barriers. They fold, collapse, or separate into smaller pieces, so they tuck into vehicle trunks, closets, elevators, and hotel rooms with far less effort.

This can make ordinary outings feel manageable again, whether you’re heading to an appointment, visiting family, running errands, or planning a longer trip.

Weight is one of the first things to think about. A lighter chair like the AEROLUX 2C, at just 33 lbs, may be much easier for a spouse, caregiver, or family member to lift. At the same time, a higher-capacity model like the CITY 2 PLUS can provide greater support and stability for the user.

The right balance comes down to the user’s needs, who’s doing the lifting, the vehicle involved, and how often the chair will be in motion.

Battery type matters too, especially if you fly. Travel Buggy models use lithium-ion batteries, which are noticeably lighter than older sealed lead acid types and are designed with travel in mind. Before you fly, it’s always worth confirming battery restrictions, storage requirements, and check-in procedures directly with your carrier.

Comfort deserves the same attention. A travel chair is meant to be compact, but it still has to feel supportive day-to-day. Seat size, backrest height, armrest width, turning radius, and driving range all shape how well a model suits your routine.

For many people, a travel power wheelchair is the right mix of portability and independence. For others, particularly those who need custom seating, tilt, recline, or more clinical postural support, a different type of chair may be the better fit.

That’s exactly why it helps to talk it through with someone first. The best way to know is to try a few models in person, which is what our showroom is for.
