Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Wheelchair
When it comes to purchasing a new wheelchair, finding the proper fit can be a real challenge. Our sales team has the combination of training and experience with these products to help guide you through the maze of choices.
A question of trust …When we offer you our advice, our words come from our experience and knowledge, and a wish to help you find the equipment that is right for you. Since our salespeople are non-commissioned, the main concern is finding the product that will do the job in the most cost-effective manner. We select from only reputable brands ---those that perform well and have a lower cost-ratio to repair.
A matter of choice…Not all wheelchairs are created equally. Depending on whether you need a wheelchair part-time (for outings and appointments) or full-time (for self-propelling and postural positioning) will dictate what type of mechanical precision your chair requires. The higher the build quality and mechanical components, the easier the wheelchair is to propel. The lifting weight of the chair often has little relationship with how easily it rolls.
You get what you pay for…Unfortunately, some department stores, discount stores, and pawnshops now sell wheelchairs. Often these are “off-shore” products designed to be inexpensive. People who have opted for the less expensive wheelchair are dismayed when they discover that no technical support or replacement parts are available even if the store still carries the product. Aside from that, a wheelchair that doesn’t work properly can be very discouraging for the user, resulting in a loss of personal mobility.
Our wheelchairs section will give you an idea of the types of wheelchairs that we carry.
